Health & Care
Information
During the nursing period, a puppy receives protective
antibodies from the mother's milk. This natural immunity will begin to
disappear with time and maybe gone soon after weaning, usually around 8 to 10
weeks of age. A puppy is susceptible to a number of diseases. That is why it
is vital to vaccinate puppies at 6, 9, and 12 weeks of age and an annual
booster shot thereafter. All puppies should be vaccinated against canine
diseases and checked periodically for worms and other parasites.
Your puppy will get his first shot at 6 weeks which is, (
Intervet
) DA2P+P, Distemper, Adenovirus Type 2,
Parainfluenza
, and Parvovirus(MLV). Our puppies are
wormed at 2, 4, and 6 weeks with Nemex-2.
Feeding
We feed, NATURAL BALANCE(R) an Ultra Premium Dog Food. NATURAL
BALANCE® has NO meat by-products, corn, wheat, soy, eggs or dairy. These
items are suspected of causing allergic reactions. For growing puppies the
canned can be mixed with the dry. This mixture can ease the stress and
stimulate the appetite and provided plenty of fresh water. NOT TAP WATER.
IMPORTANT DO NOTS
Do not feed your puppy bones from chicken, pork, or fish.
Do not feed table scrapes
Do not give your puppy between meal snacks and treats.
Diet and scheduling
The key is consistency. You must be consistent in the feeding
and the time of feeding. A puppy's stomach is very sensitive to changes of
food. By feeding him at the same times each day, you will train his digestive
system. Your puppy will need to eliminate shortly after each meal.
At 6 weeks to 3 months your puppy needs to eat 4 times a day.
From 3 months to 6 months your puppy needs to eat 3 times a day.
From 6 months to 1 year your puppy needs to eat 2 times a day.
